Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Understanding ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that reflects natural differences in attention, activity levels, and impulse regulation. ADHD presents differently across individuals and across the lifespan, including in children, adolescents, and adults.

At Mind Mode Psychology & Wellness, we take a neuro-affirming approach, recognising ADHD as part of natural neurodiversity rather than something that needs to be “fixed.” Many individuals with ADHD demonstrate strengths such as creativity, innovation, strong interests, and unique ways of thinking and problem-solving.

Some people may seek support to strengthen skills in areas such as organisation, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and daily routines, while continuing to build on their personal strengths.

How We Can Support You

Our psychologists provide evidence-based, neuro-affirming psychological services for individuals presenting with ADHD-related concerns.

Where clinically appropriate, an assessment may assist in understanding how ADHD presents for you and identifying supportive strategies aligned with your goals.

Services may include:

  • Psychological assessment (when clinically appropriate)
  • Strengths-based therapy focused on understanding your unique self and your needs, strategies for regulating focus, emotional regulation, and executive functioning skills
  • Parent and caregiver guidance
  • Collaboration with educators and allied health professionals (with consent)
  • NDIS-funded psychological support (for eligible participants) and collaborating as a team with yourself and your support workers (with consent)

Our focus is on supporting wellbeing, self-understanding, skill development, and meaningful participation in daily life.

Our Neuro-Affirming Therapeutic Approach

We provide a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative environment where individual differences are valued and the dual nature of the strengths and challenges of neurodiversity are understood. Our clinicians use evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Psycho-education, Motivational Interviewing, and Physiological and Behavioural based strategies, and they tailor support according to each person’s goals, preferences, and lived experiences.

Rather than aiming to eliminate traits, we work alongside clients to:
  • Develop practical strategies that suit their nervous system and thinking style
  • Build confidence and self-awareness
  • Increase interoception, physiological and emotional awareness
  • Strengthen regulation and coping skills
  • Support personal, educational, or vocational goals

All services are delivered in accordance with professional and ethical standards.
